The Other Side of the Wall
There was a young woman who took great pride in her flower garden. She was raised by her grandmother who taught her to love and       for flowers. So her flower garden was the best.
One day, while she was looking through a flower list she often        from, a picture of a plant caught her eyes. She had never       blooms(花) on a flower like that before. “I have to have it,” she said to herself, and she        ordered it.
When it arrived, she already had a       prepared to plant it. She planted it at the back of her yard. It grew well, with beautiful green leaves all over it,       there were no blooms. Day after day she continued to water it, feed it, and she even talked to it trying to make it bloom. However, it was       .
One morning weeks later, when standing before the vine, she felt very       that her plant had not bloomed. She was giving thought to        it down and planting something else in its place.
It was at this point that her neighbor, whose        joined hers, called over to her. “Thank you so much! You can’t imagine how much I have        the blooms of that vine you planted.” The young woman walked        the gate into her neighbor’s yard, and sure enough, she saw that on the other side of the wall the vine was        with blooms.
There were indeed the most beautiful blooms she had        seen. The vine had grown through the crevices(缝隙) and it had not flowered on        side of the wall, but it had flowered on the other side.
Sometimes one may not see the good result of his effort, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t successful.

It’s spring now. New leaves come out from the tree. Everything begins to turn green. It makes us feel happy.

A long time ago, there was an apple tree and a little boy. The boy came and          around it every day. He climbed to the tree top, ate the          , and rest under the shadow (树荫). He loved the tree and the tree loved him. Time went by … The little boy         up and no longer played around it. The old tree was very sad. It didn’t know          . The boy said, “I am not a kid. I want to play with toys. But I don’t have money.”
“You needn’t            about it. Pick all my apples and sell them, you will have money.” After that the boy didn’t come back. Years later, the boy returned and the tree was happy. But           its surprise, the boy cut it down to build a house. Many years later the boy returned again. The old tree was happy and said to him “Sorry, my boy. I can’t give you           more. The only thing left is my dying roots. But you can sit down and rest here. This is your forever          .
This is a story of everyone. The tree is our parents. When we were young, we loved playing with them. When we grow up, we          them, and only come to them when we need something or are in trouble. No matter what happens, parents will be there and give what they have to make us         .
We may say the boy is cruel (冷酷的) to the tree but that’s how we are treating (对待) our parents. Nowadays, many old people feel lonely because their children don’t live with them. We hope all of us try to help those old people and manage to make the old have a happy life.

Do you        to write with your left hand? If you do, you are one of the millions of “lefties” in the world. Why do some people use left hand more often than others? To understand left-handedness, it is necessary to look at the         . The brain is divided into two hemispheres(半球). The left hemisphere is the center of language and logical thinking. This is where they do their math problems and memorize words. However, the         hemisphere controls how they understand ideas and         they respond(作出反应) to the five senses—sight, hearing,        , taste, and touch. The left hemisphere controls the right side of the body,          the right hemisphere controls the left side. Both sides of the body receive the          information from the brain because they are connected(联系). In right-handed people, the left hemisphere is stronger. In left-handed people, the right hemisphere is         .
Lefties prefer not only the left hand but also the left         . They would rather use the left foot to kick a ball because their whole body is “left-handed”.
From Newtown      Albert Einstein, Wen Jiabao to Obama, Choplin to Zhao Benshan, many    people are left-handed. Are you left-handed even though you are forced to write with your right hand? Don’t worry if you are, you are in good company.
