1.Knowledge aims

1)引导学生复习巩固所学词汇的不同词性以及在一般过去时及一般现在时中的用法，如：

A: It looked like a flower before, but now it looks like a star.

B: May I have a look?

引导学生复习所学的有关12个月份的词汇，如:

A: When were you born?

B: I was born in January,1999.

复习巩固谈论现在及过去能做和不能做的事情，如：

A year ago, I couldn’t sing or dance. But now I can.

复习巩固can的一般疑问句及的回答的用法，如：

A: Can you sing any English songs?

B: Yes, I can.

2. Skill aims

引导学生掌握字母组合th/oo/ow/ou/ng的语音规则；

能够根据所给句子，正确运用所学的词汇；

能在课堂的游戏活动中，猜出所学的有关月份的单词并能够正确地拼读；

能够根据对话的语境，完成补全对话的练习；

能够以信的形式描述自己难忘的生日庆祝活动。

3. Emotional aims

培养学生学好英语的信心；

鼓励学生学会与家人及朋友分享自己的经历。

Stage 1 Getting students ready for learning

Step1 Greet students and let students sing the song —Happy Birthday together.

Step2 Pair work. Answer the question:

T: Can you sing English songs?

S: Yes, I can. 

T: Could you sing English songs in the past?

S: No, I couldn’t.

T: Could you sing an English song for us?

S: Yes.

Step 3  Show time. Get the students to practice the sentences:

A: I can swim, but I can't play basketball. What about you?

B: I can sing, but I can't draw pictures. What about you?

C: I can...

Step 4 Pair work. Let students make their own conversations in pairs, then choose some pairs to read them.

Step 5 Show some sentences on the screen and let students fill in the blanks with can/ could/can’t/couldn’t.

Stage 2 Finish Task4

Step1 Give students some time and read the conversation by themselves. And complete it.

Step2 Check their answers.

Step3  Choose some students to read the conversation.

Step4 Make up short dialogues in pairs. Then choose some pairs to show their dialogues.

Stage 3 Finish Task3.

Step1 Play a game. Let the students to play a game to review the words of 12 months.

Step2 Pair work. Answer the question:

T: When were you born?

Ss: I was born in …

Step3 Group work. Let the students make a survey about their birthdays in their group, then choose a reporter to report their results like this:

In our group, …and…were born in June. …was born in April. …and…were born in the same month, they were born in May.But I was born in July.

Step4 Read the sentences and guess which months they were born in, then make some more puzzles.

Stage 4 Finish Task2.

Step1 Give students some time and complete the sentences by themselves.  

Step2 Check their answers.

Step3 If they have some difficulties, help them.

Stage 5 Finish Task1.

Step1 Get the students to read the words.

Step2 Let the students pay attention to the sounds of the underlined parts, put them into the correct columns.

Step3 Check their answers.

Step4 Read the words again and pay attention to the sounds of the underlined parts.

方案1 让语音好的学生带领全班读。

方案2 先是左边学生读，然后是右边的学生朗读。

方案 3 先是所有女生读，然后是所有男生读，看谁读的最好。

Stage 6 Finish Task5.

Step1 Let the students read the questions first, then read the passage.

Step2 Finish the questions by themselves.

Step3 Discuss the answers in pairs, then choose some pairs to ask and answer the questions. Check their answers.

Step4 Retell Carrie’s birthday party.

Stage 7 Writing.

Step1 Get the students to write a letter to tell about Carrie’s birthday party.

T: Suppose you’re Carrie. Write a letter to your grandparents to tell them about your birthday party by using the information of the passage in task5.

Step2 Show time. Select the best passage from each group and let the student who wrote it report their passage to the whole class.

Stage 8 Homework.

1.Oral homework: Recite the useful sentences of this unit.

2. Written homework: Write a passage about your unforgotten birthday party.
